How Bail Bonds Work In Downey, CA

After someone is arrested in the city of Downey, CA he or she will be taken to the closest jail from the location of the arrest. The arresting officers will most likely take the defendant to the Downey jail, which is located at 10911 Brookshire Ave. Downey, CA 90241.

Once the inmate arrives at the jail, an arresting officer will confiscate any personal belongings in order to put it into safekeeping for the remainder of the time that the defendant spends at the jail. Before any inmate can be bailed out of jail, he or she must complete the booking process. The booking process is where the inmate gets added to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s database for future reference. As part of the booking process, the inmate will go through the fingerprint scan, which will tell the jailer if the defendant has any outstanding warrants or is wanted by any other agency.

The booking process could take anywhere from an hour to several hours and that depends on how busy the jail is at that time. Before any inmate could be bailed out of jail, the jailer must first receive the results from the fingerprint scan. However, when you contact one of our agents, he or she will contact the jailer to get all of the bail information on your loved one. Once the inmate is cleared for bail, the agent will then contact you with a place and time for you two to meet, so that you could fill out all of the necessary paperwork. When all of the paperwork is completed, the bail bonds agent will then take the paperwork to the jailer, who will then verify that all of the necessary information is complete. After that, the jailer will release the inmate to your custody so that he or she could await trial in the safety of their own home.

The jailer will also assign the defendant a much later court date, usually about a month or so after the date that he or she was arrested and booked. For more information please contact our Bail Bonds Office.
